Sheridan farm couple Paul and Evelyn Trent, on May 11, 1950, claimed they saw and photographed an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) from their backyard. The photos and story describing a flying saucer hovering made local and national news, including Life Magazine. The Trents were also interviewed on McMinnville’s new radio station, KMCM, just a month after it went on the air.
The UFO photos were never identified as real or as a hoax. I have never figured out where the Trents’ farm was located, or why space aliens would have chosen that particular spot for a closer look.
The sighting was said to be nine miles west of McMinnville, which should have place it near the end of Gopher Valley Road. .
